Rep Soper's analysis is spot-on: the Front Range communities voted to support grey wolf reintroduction while the Western Slope suffers the consequences. We should never again allow such a lopsided ballot to ever be permitted. It's both unfair and unreasonable.
Matt, an excellent analysis on how this travesty was foisted on the Western Slope. It also outlines the strategy that these radical "environmental" advocates will use in future efforts, such as the proposed ban on mountain lion hunting. But one detail you did not mention. The photograph of the wolf release demonstrates what back country users will need to carry in the future. The Parks & Wildlife officers are demonstrating that we will need to carry a 3 ft. x 4 ft. sheet of plywood to protect ourselves. I am sure we will hear explanations on how we are trespassing on their native range and habitat and need to be tolerant of any and all depredations. In spite of the fact that Canadian gray wolves ARE NOT an indigenous species. I could go on, but you get the point. David Bradford
